The Dawn Project works to enable adults and children to move on after the experience of divorce and breakdown of relationship. It was set up by the Diocese of Sheffield in 1997 to meet an established need, and works throughout South Yorkshire.
Our work provides support through:
- ‘Surviving the Break-up’ Courses These are group sessions that are run by trained counsellors that give people space to talk to others who have gone through similar experiences. The groups also look at practical ways of learning from the past and building a new future.
- Hear4You A confidential, non judgemental listening service where you can talk to someone who has experienced relationship break up for one to one support.
- ‘Helping Children and Young People to Survive the Break Up’ A one day workshop for Professionals working with Children and Young People.
- The Dawn School Pack. A Course for primary school children whose parents have separated or divorced. Dawn can train professionals to deliver this course or can provide experienced facilitators to deliver the course to a group of children.
- Signposting Our staff and volunteers can give information about other sources of help and support available in your area.
- Parents’ Support Group sessions to help parents provide better support for their children.
- Training for professionals We can provide a variety of customised courses for organisations and schools.
- Information Packs We have packs for parents, children and young people with useful information and contacts.
- Social Events and Activities A monthly drop-in and Sunday walk for service users and volunteers.
- Volunteering Opportunities Volunteers support our Hear4You service after a 13 week training course.
